2011 RV Melville Cruise

RV Melville

R/V Melville is a research vessel operated by Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The cruise took place in January - February 2011. The cruise area included a transect across Southern Atlantic from Punta Arenas (Chile) to Cape Town (South Africa). Forty (40) measurement series spanning 10 days were acquired.

Dr. William Balch of Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences was the Chief Scientist for the National Science Foundation-sponsored expedition. Dr. Kenneth Voss from the University of Miami (Department of Physics) was a Principal Investigator for aerosol optical depth measurements and Mr. Luke Logan from the same institution operated a sunphotometer onboard.
