R/V L'Atalante is a research vessel owned by Institut francais de recherche pour l’exploitation de la mer - IFREMER (France) and operated by SHOM – Service Hydrographique et Oceanographique de la Marine (France). The cruise took place in May 2008. The cruise area included a transect in the Gulf of Lion. Sixteen (16) measurement series spanning 11 days were acquired during the cruise.

Dr. Frederic Jourdin from SHOM was a Principal Investigator for aerosol optical measurements, teaming with Dr. Philippe Goloub from Laboratoire d'Optique Atmosphérique ( Lille). Ms. Mathilde Faillot and Ms. Caroline Petus operated sunphotometer onboard.
