The R/V Maria S. Merian is owned by the Federal Republic of Germany and is operated by the Institute for Baltic Sea Research at Warnemuende. The cruise took place in August-September 2011. The cruise area included South Atlantic off the coast of Namibia. Forty-seven (47) measurement series spanning 7 days were acquired.
Dr. Lutz Postel from Baltic Sea Research Institute (Warnemuende, Germany) was a Principal Investigator for optical depth measurements. Dr. Berthold Schütte and Mr. Tim Junker from the same institution operated the sunphotometer onboard.
