R/V Ronald H. Brown is owned and operated by the United States of America, Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The cruise took place in January-February 2013 within the framework of the trans-Atlantic Aerosol and Ocean Science Expeditions (AEROSE) project. The cruise area included two transects in the Atlantic Ocean from Charlston, South Carolina to Africa and back to Puerto Rico. Two hundred forty six (246) measurement series spanning 28 days were acquired during the cruise.
Dr. Everett Joseph from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Howard University (Washington, DC) and Dr. Nicholas Nalli from NOAA/NESDIS (College Park, Maryland, USA) were Principal Investigators for aerosol optical depth measurements. Mrs. Mayra Oyola from Howard University led the sunphotometer operations onboard.
