The RV SA Agulhas II is South Africa's polar research vessel. The ship belongs to the Department of Environmental Affairs, Directorate of Antarctica and Islands. During the cruise sun photometer measurements took place from December 2012 through February 2013. The cruise area included the Southern Atlantic and region near coast of Antarctica. Forty-eight (48) measurement series spanning 20 days were acquired during the cruise.
Mr. Stephen Broccardo from University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg (South Africa) was the Principal Investigator for optical depth measurements. Ms. Beanca van den Berg from North-West University (Potchefstroom, South Africa) operated a sunphotometer onboard.
