The RV SA Agulhas II is South Africa's polar research vessel. The ship belongs to the Department of Environmental Affairs, Directorate of Antarctica and Islands. During the cruise sun photometer measurements took place in July and August of 2012. The cruise area included the South Atlantic Ocean. Ten measurement series spanning 4 days were acquired during the cruise.
Mr. Stephen Broccardo from University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg (South Africa) was the Principal Investigator for optical depth measurements. Santjie du Toit from the South African Weather Service operated a sunphotometer onboard.
