RV Aegaeo is a multipurpose research vessel. She is operated by the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR), Greece. The cruise was organized by the King Fahd University, Dahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The cruise took place in October - November 2012. The cruise included Mediterranean Sea, Gulf of Suez, and Red Sea. Fifty (50) measurement series spanning twenty two (22) days were acquired during those cruises.
Dr. Georgiy Stenchikov from the Earth Sciences and Engeneering Program (ErSE) within the Division of Physical Sciences and Engineering , King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) was a Principal Investigator for aerosol optical depth measurements. Dr. Vassilis Papadopolus from HCMR conducted measurements onboard. Dr. Jish Prakash of ErSE and Mr. Pedro De La Torre from the Marine Sciences Program within the Division of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Engineering at KAUST assisted in additional information collection.
