R/V Akademik Fedorov belongs to the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (Saint Petersburg, Russia) of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of Russian Federation. The cruise started in November 2012 and ended in May 2013. The cruise area included an Atlantic transect from North Sea to Cape Town and then crossing into the South Atlantic to Antarctica, measurements around Antarctica, crossing to Cape Town, and an Atlantic transect back to Baltic Sea and Saint Petersburg, Russia. Four hundred twenty one (421) measurement series spanning 60 days were acquired.
Dr. Vladimir F. Radionov (Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute, St.Petersburg, Russia) was the Principal Investigator for aerosol optical measurements. Mr. Yuri Turchinovich (Institute of Atmospheric Optics,Tomsk, Russia), Konstantin Lubo-Lesnichenko, and Nikolay Vlasov from Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute operated a sunphotometer onboard.
