The RV Akademik belongs to Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and is operated by the Institute of Oceanology (Varna). The cruise, partially supported by the Joint Research Centre within the framework Bio-Optical mapping of Marine Properties (BiOMaP) Program, was conducted in the Black Sea during July 2011. Eighty-six (86) measurement series spanning nine (9) days were acquired.
Dr. Giuseppe Zibordi from the European Commission - Joint Research Centre (Ispra, Italy) was the Principal Investigator for aerosol optical measurements and operated a sun photometer onboard.
