2011 RV Mirai Cruise

RV Mirai is the oceanographic research vessel. She belongs to Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC). The cruise took place in September - December 2011 within the framework of the international CINDY (Japan)-DYNAMO (USA) field experiment in the equatorial Indian Ocean. Eighty-two (82) measurement series spanning 37 days were acquired during the cruise.

Dr. Kunio Yoneyama from JAMSTEC was a Chief Scientist and Principal Investigator for aerosol optical depth measurements.Technical staff of Global Ocean Development Inc. operated sunphotometer onboard. Essential logistical help by Dr. Michael Reynolds (USA) is greatly appreciated.
