R/V Islandia is a research vessel owned by the Instituto Nacional de Desenvolvimento das Pescas (INDP). A series of short cruises took place in July 2008. The cruise area in the Tropical Atlantic included the region around Cape Verde within the framework of the SOPRAN (Surface Ocean Processes in the Anthropocene) project. Forty four (44) measurement series spanning nineteen (19) days were acquired during the cruises.
Dr. Peter Croot was a Principal Investigator for optical depth measurements and Ms. Maija Heller (PhD student, IFM-GEOMAR) operated sunphotometer onboard.
