The R/V Kilo Moana is an oceanographic research vessel operated by the University of Hawaii’s School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology. A short student-led cruise “Cruising Hawaii with Atmospheric and Oceanographic Students” (CHAOS) took place around the main Hawaiian Islands from February 1 – 10th, 2011. Ninety-five (95) measurement series spanning eight (8) days were acquired during the cruise.
Dr. Cameron McNaughton is Director of Engineering and Research at Aina Kai Environmental, LLC and an Affiliate Assistant Researcher with the University of Hawaii Department of Oceanography. During the CHAOS cruise Dr. McNaughton conducted marine aerosol measurements using a lidar built by Aina Kai Environmental, and aerosol optical depth measurements using a MicroTops-II sunphotometer.
