R/V Marion-Dufresne belongs to French Polar Institute - IPEV (Institut Paul Emile Victor) and TAAF (Terres Australes et Antarctiques Francaises). The cruise started in November 2012 and ended in April 2013. The cruise area in the South Indian Ocean included the region between Reunion, Crozet, Kerguelen and Amsterdam Islands. A number of measurement series were obtained on Amsterdam Island. Fifty eight (58) measurement series spanning five (5) days were acquired during the cruise and eighty (80) series spanning 22 days on Amsterdam Island.

Dr. Jean Sciare from Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l'Environnement (Gif-sur-Yvette, France) was the Principal Investigator for aerosol optical measurements. Mrs. Alice Croguennoc and Mr. Matthieu Ledreau (both from IPEV) operated a sunphotometer onboard.
