The R/V Maria S. Merian is owned by the Federal Republic of Germany and is operated by the Institute for Baltic Sea Research at Warnemunde. The cruise took place in March-April 2012. The cruise area included Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico. Two hundred ninety three (293) measurement series spanning 22 days were acquired.
Dr. Stefan Kinne from Max Planck Institute for Meteorology ( Hamburg, Germany) was the Principal Investigator for optical depth measurements. Mr. Friedhelm Jansen from the same institution operated a sunphotometer onboard.
