The R/V Meteor is owned by the Federal Republic of Germany and is operated by the University of Hamburg. The cruise consisted of 4 legs starting at the end of October 2008 and was completed in the middle of February 2009. The cruise area included the region off the West Coast of South America. Two hundred and six (206) measurement series spanning 57 days were acquired during the cruise.
Dr. Peter Croot from Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences (Kiel, Germany) was a Principal Investigator for optical depth measurements and operated a sunphotometer onboard, assisted by Dr. Christian Schlosser, Ms. Kathrin Wuttig and Ms. Mirja Dunker from the same institution.
