R/V Polarstern belongs to the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research ( Bremerhaven, Germany). The cruise took place in October-November 2010. The cruise area included an Atlantic transect from Bremerhaven to Cape Town, South Africa. Three hundred seventeen (317) measurement series spanning 20 days were acquired during the cruise.
Dr. Stefan Kinne from Max Planck Institute for Meteorology ( Hamburg, Germany) was a Principal Investigator for optical depth measurements. Dr. Akos Horvath from the same institution operated a sun photometer onboard.
