R/V Polarstern belongs to the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research ( Bremerhaven, Germany). The cruise took place in November 2011. The cruise area included an Atlantic transect from Bremerhaven to Cape Town, South Africa. Three-hundred seventy-nine (379) measurement series spanning twenty-three (23) days were acquired during the cruise.
Dr. Stefan Kinne from Max Planck Institute for Meteorology ( Hamburg, Germany) was the Principal Investigator for optical depth measurements. Ms. Cornelia Kampmann from the same institution operated the sun photometer onboard.
