R/V Polarstern belongs to the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (Bremerhaven, Germany). The cruise started in February 2008 and completed in mid-April 2008. The cruise area included the Southern Atlantic and South Ocean. One -hundred thirty nine (139) measurement series spanning 36 days were acquired during the cruise.
Dr. Peter Croot from Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences ( Kiel, Germany) was a Principal Investigator for optical depth measurements and operated a sunphotometer onboard.
