R/V Sonne is owned and operated by the RF Forschungsschiffahrt GmbH, Bremen, Federal Republic of Germany. The cruise took place in September - October 2012 and consisted of a transect across the Pacific Ocean from Japan to Fiji Island. One hundred eighty one (181) measurement series spanning fourteen (14) days were acquired.
Dr. Stefan Kinne from Max Planck Institute for Meteorology ( Hamburg, Germany) was the Principal Investigator for optical depth measurements. Mrs. Julia Marschall (a bachelor student, Department of Meteorology at the University of Hamburg) operated a sunphotometer onboard.
