Site Coordinates and Elevation:

  • Latitude: 39.94500° North
  • Longitude: 1.10160° West
  • Elevation: 1280.0 Meters

Site Description:

  • The instrument has been deployed in the Aras de los Olmos Astronomical Observatory (http://observatori.uv.es), kept by the department of Astronomy from the University of Valencia (Spain). The photometer has been installed on top of an instrumented container, devoted to the observation of the atmosphere at background conditions. Rural aerosols are dominant at this location, produced by extensive agricultural activities. The closest city is Valencia (more than 1 million inhabitants) at a distance of 100 km in SE direction, where a second AERONET station is found (Burjassot). Other measurements are available: global, direct and diffuse solar irradiances, and global ultraviolet radiation irradiance (TUV and UVB). Albedo and in situ aerosol measurements are also performed, such as absorption and scatter coefficients.
