Site Coordinates and Elevation:

  • Latitude: 24.76685° North
  • Longitude: 55.36912° East
  • Elevation: 86.8 Meters

Site Description:
  • The station is part of a R&D- site in the desert, 50 km south of the City of Dubai, very close to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Makthoum Solar Park. The site’s dimension is 100 m x 100 m. The cimel is installed on highest level of a platform for instrumentation. The horizon is free of obstructions above 5° elevation. The surrounding is dominated by a sandy desert. Nearby a huge Photovoltaic plant of 5 GW / 77km˛ will be build. 400 MWp are already installed in 2018. The station is part of a photovoltaic research and development site measuring >100 PV modules in different installations (elevations, azimuth-orientation, 1-axes tracked, 2-axes tracked, building integrated…) individually. The station is designed to become part of the BSRN network The station is equipped with a GPS-Water Vapor measuring system included in GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences (Helmholtz Centre Potsdam)
