Site Coordinates and Elevation:

  • Latitude: 47.07051° North
  • Longitude: 7.87292° East
  • Elevation: 921.0 Meters

Site Description:

  • The instrument is installed on the roof of a research container platform on the top of a 921 m high hill near Eriswil, CH. Eriswil is located in the northern part of Central Switzerland, about half way between Zurich and Bern. The region of Eriswil is characterized by a rather continental, pre-alpine moderate climate. Manifold local and remote aerosol sources exist. Locally, main sources are domestic fires during winter and biological sources during summer. Main remote source is the Saharan desert and the Mediterrenean Sea. The Aeronet site is operated on a field site that is maintained in the frame of the CLOUDLAB project of ETH Zurich (https://cloudlab.ethz.ch/), which TROPOS has joined within the PolarCAP project (https://gepris.dfg.de/gepris/projekt/408027490?context=projekt&task=showDetail&id=408027490&).
