Site Coordinates and Elevation:

  • Latitude: 36.78173° North
  • Longitude: 119.77317° West
  • Elevation: 97.0 Meters

Site Description:

  • The California Air Resources Board maintains an air quality monitoring site near downtown Fresno, CA. The Central Valley of California regularly experiences some of the worst air quality in North America. This particular site monitors a mix of rural and urban pollutants. Aerosol property estimates made from CIMEL measurements and Terra/MISR observations will be compared to the in-situ sampling methods employed at the site. * Other in-situ aerosol samplers maintained by the California Air Resources Board populate the rooftop site. #102 is mounted on the southern edge of the building, located in downtown Fresno about 5km northeast of the intersection of hwy 99 & 41. **Note pallets and blocks used to prevent damage to the roof material. The uplink antenna faces roughly southwest and the control boxes and batteries are inside the white case. The industrial strut frame is stiffened with diagonal cables.
