Site Description:

  • The California Air Resources Board (CARB) maintains an air quality monitoring site near downtown Fresno, CA. NASA/ JPL has maintained an AERONET-affiliated sunphotometer at this site since 2002. On January 13, 2012, the CARB facility moved 400 m north to the intersection of First and Garland. The new CARB site name is Fresno-Garland, and is located at 3727 N. First Suite, Suite 104, Fresno, CA 93726. The instrument is on the roof of this building. The site monitors a mix of rural and urban pollutants. It is located within California's Central Valley, which often contains some of the worst air quality in North America. Fifty miles to the northeast is Yosemite Valley.
