Site Description:
  • GAW station of Melpitz, rural site with extensive surface instrumentation for the characterization of chemical, microphysical, and optical properties of aerosol particles and trace gases. In September 2013, additional remote sensing instrumentation (35-GHz cloud radar, Multiwavelength-Raman-polarization-lidar PollyXT, Doppler lidar, Microwave radiometer) is available at the site during the HOPE-Melpitz campaign. In addition, helicopter-borne in-situ measurements of aerosol microphysics and of warm-cloud microphysics will take place from 9 to 27 September 2013.
