Site Description:

  • The instrument is set up on top of a 19 m tower surrounded by large boreal forests dominated by coniferous trees. The azimuth and zenith robots have an external heating. The measurement site, Hyytiälä Forestry Field Station, forms part of the village of Hyytiälä with about 30 inhabitants. Larger cities in the vicinity of the site are Korkeakoski and Orivesi, with 10 and 24 km south of Hyytiälä, respectively. At 332° related to the instrument there is a meteorological mast with height of 73 m, distance ca. 120 m. The top of the mast is 61 m higher related to the instrument base. There are no major pollution sources nearby.
