Description:
|
- The instrument is located on the roof of building V of the campus of the University of Applied Sciences, Kempten. The University campus lies in the southern part of the city of Kempten, which has 70,000 inhabitants, and is situated at the Northern edge of the Alps in the Alpine foothil region and in the valley of the Iller river. The roof top platform lies at an elevation of 730m, and offers unobstructed views towards the south, east and west directions, while the building structure of the entrance reaches about 2,5m height and lies North of the platform. The weather in Kempten is typical for a temperate climate in Germany. It is however influenced by the close vicinity to the Alps, in particular Foehn situations occur several times per year, and orographic lifting can cause intense rain periods.
