Site Description:
  • The LAMTO geophysical and ecological station has been activated in 1960 by Professors LAMotte and TOurnier (hence the name of LAMTO). For the last four decades, sismological, ecological and climatological data from this natural reserve have been compiled. This site is used as a reference for a « wet savanna » environment. Lamto is located, in the « V-Shaped Baoulé » region (120km North of Abidjan) at about 6° N, 5°W. The LAMTO reserve covers approximatively 2600 ha and is constitued essentially of the wet savanna, the so called gallery forest along the Bandama River (Yoboue et al, 2004). LAMTO is part of the INDAAF international project (International Network to Study Deposition and Atmospheric Chemistry in AFrica). More informations could be found at : http://idaf.sedoo.fr.
