Site Coordinates and Elevation:

  • Latitude: 42.46757° North
  • Longitude: 87.81005° West
  • Elevation: 180.0 Meters

Site Description:

  • Instrument platform setup will be the same as current installation at University of Wisconsin SSEC (https://aeronet.gsfc.nasa.gov/new_web/photo_db/U_of_Wisconsin_SSEC.html) and will be located at the Zion, Illinois IEPA air quality monitoring site in the Illinois Beach State Park during the 2017 Lake Michigan Ozone Study (LMOS 2017) which goes from May 22 through June 22, 2017. The platform will be on the ground within an 8 foot high chain link fence enclosed/locked area. Potential aerosol sources are train tracks to the west of the site. We anticipate that the site will influenced by Lake Michigan lake breeze pollution transport patterns during the LMOS 2017 deployment.
