Site Coordinates and Elevation:

  • Latitude: 34.19900° North
  • Longitude: 118.17439° West
  • Elevation: 367.0 Meters

Site Description:

  • The installation site is located on a rooftop at the NASA/ Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) campus, 7 miles northwest of the Caltech campus, an additional AERONET site. The JPL instrument is in close proximity to a rooftop air quality monitoring station at JPL’s campus, equipped with additional monitors including: • GRIMM EDM 164 optical particle counter • AirPhoton PM2.5 speciation monitor, part of the Surface Particulate Matter Network (SPARTAN) • AethLabs MA350 Aethalometer • Aerosol Mass and Optical Depth (AMOD) sampler • Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus Weather Station • PurpleAir-II low-cost PM sensor • AirPhoton Multi-wavelength polarimetric polar nephelometer • Aerosol Dynamics scanning electrical mobility spectrometer • NO2 and SO2 sensors These data will support validation of aerosol retrievals from the Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) and the Multi-Angle Imager for Aerosols (MAIA).
