Site Description
The measurement site is located in a remote sub-arctic location, on a shallow slope clearing surrounded by boreal spruce forests. The instrument will be bolted on the roof terrace of the main measurement cabin, approx 4 meters above ground level. The instrument head will be mounted on a steel pedestal at an extra height of 1.5 meters above the terrace floor, and having a very good sky view. The robot arm is equipped with heating pads and the rain sensor has been replaced by a Vaisala weatherproof unit. The measurement site is unmanned. Permanent personnel have an office a few kilometres away and nearest villages are about 25 km off. There are several ski resorts within a range of 20 to 100 km. Aerosol concentrations are very low and depend on wind conditions and far-range transportation.
