Site Description

GAW station of Melpitz, rural site with extensive surface instrumentation for the characterization of chemical, microphysical, and optical properties of aerosol particles and trace gases. From September-October 2013 and from Mai-June 2015, additional remote sensing instrumentation (35-GHz cloud radar, Multiwavelength-Raman-polarization-lidar PollyXT, Doppler lidar, Microwave radiometer) is available at the site. In addition, helicopter-borne in-situ measurements of aerosol microphysics and of warm-cloud microphysics took place from 9 to 27 September 2013 and are scheduled for 13 June - 3 July 2015.
