Site Description
The instrument is located above the roof of Chacaltaya Observatory building. The Chacaltaya Observatory is part of the Global Atmosphere Watch network. It is located at the Bolivian Andes (16°21.014'S, 68º07.886'W, 5240 masl) at Mount Chacaltaya 150 m below the summit facing southward towards the metropolitan area of La Paz and El Alto. This urban conglomerate has 1.7 million inhabitants and its influence can be monitored almost on a daily basis at the station.
