Site Description
Located on an elevated 10 meter platform over a concrete pad at PNNL, in Richland WA. The concrete pad is surrounded by hay fields, fallow land, and mowed lawn. The surrounding region is generally arid and rural with irrigated cropland interspersed with natural vegetation including sage brush, tumbleweeds, and scrub. In addition, the Columbia River, Yakima River, and Snake River all form a confluence within a few kilometers of the measurement site. This location will be seasonally impacted by biomass burning (local crop burning, regional wild fires, more distant forest fires), occasional dust storms of regional origin, as well as impacts from varied agricultural activities at the local and regional levels.
