Site Coordinates and Elevation:

  • Latitude: 52.76202° North
  • Longitude: 16.30959° East
  • Elevation: 54.0 Meters

Site Description:

  • The sunphotometer #1358 of the Poznan University of Life Sciences (PULS) has been installed at the steel triangulated tower 3.5 m high (with a wooden platform base, the sunphotometer head is 4.2 meters above the surface) in the POLWET site of PULS in Rzecin, northwestern Poland. The site is 86 ha of floating-carpet peatland type (effect of lake overgrowing) within 236.4 ha of the Natura 2000 protected area. The peatland area is surrounded by meadows and extensive but managed forest and presents the background atmospheric conditions. There are no buildings or aerosol sources in the vicinity, and the instrument has an uninterrupted 360° view of the horizon. The site has main power and an Ethernet connection. It is an established ecosystem-atmosphere flux research site with an eddy covariance tower, chamber measurement plots and optical instrumentation in operation since 2004, and manipulation experiments since 2014. The POLWET_Rzecin AERONET site is foreseen as ACTRIS-PL National Facility.
