Site Description
The Atmospheric Measurement Station at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (EMA USFQ, Spanish acronym) began operations in June 2014. EMA is a rooftop facility sited on the Science and Engineering building at USFQ's main campus. USFQ is located in Cumbaya, a valley town east of Quito, Ecuador. At EMA we continously monitor weather varibles (temperature, humidity, precipitation, solar radiation, and wind speed and direction) as well as surface ozone and NOx. In addition, we monitor tropospheric and stratospheric ozone above the equatorial Andes through monthly ozonesonde launches on board of high altitude balloons
