Site Description
The site is located in Southeastern Mexico close to the Guatemalan border in the Mexican State of Chiapas. The physiographic region is called the Central depression of Chiapas which is open an flat 600 masl. The region is affected every year by important biomass burning in Mexico and Guatemala. To the south approximately 100km is located the Tacaná which is an active volcano and to the south east some of the guatemalan active volcanoes (200 km approx). The Chichon volcano es located to the North west at approximately 200 kmThe closest city is Comitan de Dominguez (70km approx.) and Tapachula (180km) both in the Mexican state of Chiapas.
