Site Coordinates and Elevation:

  • Latitude: 39.03000° North
  • Longitude: 76.88000° West
  • Elevation: 50.0 Meters

Site Description:

  • The sunphotometer is installed at the USDA Henry A. Wallace Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) in Beltsville, MD. The instrument is located in a fenced enclosure adjacent to an area of small experimental field plots. The sunphotometer’s primary function is to provide data for the atmospheric correction of aerial and satellite imagery in support of large, interdisciplinary remote sensing field campaigns held across the U.S. While resident at BARC, the sunphotometer serves to provide data comparisons with instruments located at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD approximately 5.5 miles to the southeast.
