LOGISTICS - How to Exchange Eproms

If one needs to change Cimel software, two eproms need to be replaced. The newest software (V4.80a) requires a parameter called 'BCL Sky' to be set to 'NO'

This parameter is listed in the same menu as the AUTO mode (it's the next parameter)

To check the software version in your Cimel, use the PW '3' option

At the bottom of this message is an example Parameter file to show where this parameter can be found

Procedure

To change the eprom;

  • open the white control box
  • unplug the battery
  • flip back the larger circuit board
  • Use a small flat tipped screwdriver to gently remove the epromsone at a time and replace with the new ones. (be careful not to bend the prongs)

PLEASE NOTE THE ORIENTATION OF THE EPROMS BEFORE REMOVING.

There is a notch at the end of the eprom and in the holder. Install the replacement eproms with the notch oriented the same as the one you remove.

You need to replace one eprom on each of the two circuit boards.The pilot eprom goes on the larger board.The ASTP eprom goes on the smaller of the two boards.

You need to be sure that all pins go into the eprom holder. It is possible to unknowingly bend a pin under and still press the eprom into place so look closely to ensure that all pins went in

Once you have replaced them, reconnect the plug, and reset time and date
