CAPTIONIMAGE
Image 3 - The AERONET sun photometer is located on the roof of the main building of the Institute for Tropospheric Research (IFT). In the background, the housing (white dome) of the DOAS instrument (Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy), that is used for horizontal aerosol and gas observations over the city of Leipzig, is shown. To the left of the DOAS housing, the green laser beam of the IFT Raman lidar is rountinely transmitted (typically twice a week). The Raman lidar measures vertical profiles of the volume extinction coefficient of the particles at 355 and 532 nm up to stratospheric heights.
