Site Description

The site is on the campus of NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton VA. It is within 40 km of the cities of Norfolk (population ~ 240K) and Newport News (population~180 K) and several smaller cities, and is on the southwestern tip of the Chesapeake Bay. The site experiences urban and marine aerosol types with occasional intrusions of smoke and dust.
